The Xiaohe Mummy is one of several mummies touring in the exhibit called “The Secrets of the Silk Road” She was excavated from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China and is about 3,800 years old. What’s so amazing about her is that she has unexplained western features(like her long nose) and her origin and identity are unkown.

KALI FAGERBERG IS A FORMER HARSH NOISE PERFORMER (AKA BLANK VERSE). HE MOVED FROM SWEDEN TO GERMANY AND DECIDED TO REVAMP HIS SOUND. ON THIS DEBUT ALBUM UNDER THE ALTERED SPELLING, HE FLAWLESSLY FUSES ELEMENTS OF ATONALITY AND EXPERIMENTATION WITH POST-PUNK, MINIMAL INDUSTRIAL, COLD-WAVE, ELECTRO, NEW WAVE AND WEIRD, ANGULAR POP-ROCK SONGS. STRONG JOY DIVISION AND (OLD) CURE-ESQUE GUITAR WORK PEDALING, DESPERATE MALE VOCALS WITH A SWEDISH ACCENT, AND A MULTITUDE OF INTERWOVEN SYNTHESIZER STYLES. PROGRAMMED DRUM PATTERNS STOPPING AND STARTING, GIVING FREE-FORM SECTIONS THEIR PLACE IN BETWEEN. THIS MUSIC IS DISJOINTED ENOUGH TO STAY EMOTIONALLY UNCOMFORTABLE YET DRIVING AND EVEN CATCHY ENOUGH TO MAKE THE AIRWAVES. SOUNDS LIKE XIU XIU, DEPECHE MODE, CABERET VOLTAIRE, NEW ORDER, BOUYANT SEA, OMD, KRAFTWERK, AND MAYBE A TINY TOUCH OF PSYCHIC TV AND RUSSIAN TSARLAG, HIDDEN UNDER THE TINGE OF SINGER-SONGWRITER SENSIBILITY. ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS OF THE YEAR, EASILY. FOR FANS OF “WEIRD” AND “NORMAL” MUSIC ALIKE.

COMES IN A SHRINK-WRAPPED JEWEL-CASE WITH BEAUTIFUL ARTWORK & INFO.

After the night I had this song is ripping my heart out and throwing a handful of wet gravel in its place.

It just occurred to me as I began to read Factotum that one day soon I will run out of Bukowski. When I run out, who will I be a curmudgeonly, depressed wino with?

"…I could put on a tight black shirt, but I don’t bother, I don’t bother. I could hit the gym so it looks real nice, but I don’t bother, I don’t bother. I could tell a joke and make the whole room laugh, but I don’t bother, I don’t bother…"

American noise rock/hardcore punk band from my own Allentown, PA. They are playing SXSW this year which gives me the warm fuzzies. Also, their old drummer, Tim, is in one of my all-time-favourite local bands, Tile (whose music I will share with you soon).

"A hunter inadvertently wakes up something old and dangerous."

This comic is stunning. It has no text but it certainly doesn’t need it. Man, I don’t even know what to say about it really it’s just beautiful. The colours, the layout, the backgrounds…just check it out, you won’t be sorry! There’s just part one for now but there’s supposed to be more soon.
